User Research

Design Thinking Workshops, Contextual Interviews, Shadowing

Method:
User research was conducted in a series of 2 Design Thinking workshops with the customer, in which different stakeholder groups were invited to collaboratively brainstorm on the topic and share their individual user needs. Once the main application users were identified, in-depth interviews have been conducted to uncover pain points in the existing working processes and investigate user goals. Lastly, users were shadowed at work in order to obtain an understanding for their working process and examine the tools they are currently using.

Resulting design artifacts:
Personas, Stakeholder Map, User Journeys

Information Architecture, Wireframes, UI Design, Testing

Co-creation approach

Together with end-users, an improved process was designed of how the application can support their individual work steps. An information hierarchy was established and respective functionalities were mapped onto each screen. In regular feedback sessions, wireframes were iteratively validated and a high-fidelity mock-up was created that served for testing purposes.

Comprehensive Dashboard

The ABS Dashboard was designed to comply with statuatory reporting duty of antibiotic application. It supports antibiotic stewardship teams and their respective heatlhcare organization in monitoring encountered pathogens and surveilling the resistence against pathogens.

Pathogens and resistences tab
This site depicts the progression of pathogens and resistencesover over time. It visualizes the data in an aggregated state and enables to drill down on the data in order to assess the situation in a hospital or hospital department.

Antibiotic application tab
This site maps the application of substances in relation to pathogens and depicts the application of antibiotics over time. It informs users about the adherence to guidelines, cases of treatment and the frequency of antibiotic application. Data is visualized an aggregated state and users can drill down on it in order to explore the expenditure of any entity.
